During the development of osSchool the various PHP frameworks were evaluated for use within the project. In general, those frameworks that were available with suitable open source licensing proved to be either little more that a web content management system for programmers, or to be complex, and times restrictive. None of the evaluated frameworks proved to be really suited to the development of a UML designed application.
Designed and developed from the start using UML, the framework’s XMI model is intended to be imported into UML modeling tools to accelerate the application development .
Though very much in it’s infancy, phpBlossom has proven and significant asset in the development of osSchool.
